My first turkey

11 Apr

I cooked my first turkey a few weeks ago.

I had to call my mom for a few tips.

I disected dead people in college and it took me a while to get the guts to stick my hand in this.

The neck was the grossest part to me.

Have you ever done this?  Wow, this was disgusting.

In the end, it turned out decent.

I opted last year to do just the turkey breast. Thats the part that everyone wants mostly and I did not have to pull anything out of any where. I am with you yuck yuck

definitely disgusting! I have probably only done about a dozen turkeys in my adult life. Most the last few years. It does get a bit easier–but still disgusting!!

I’ve not done a turkey yet but I have cooked 2 whole chickens which have the same bag of guts and what not in side. so gross.

K, I have to tell you that the neck is the best part!!! I know … sounds completely vomitable, (not a word I know), but if you let it cook with the turkey or even sauté it with it’s own seasonings, it is delish! Yeah, you sort of nibble thru the vertebra, but the meat is so tender. I am laughing at myself knowing how disgusting this is reading, but I had to come to the defense of the turkey neck!!
