Amazing Man – needs prayer

8 Oct

Andrew's 30th and Baptism 047One of the many things I love about my husband is his love for other people.  His love for people does not stop at ‘talking about loving people.  He actually serves, sacrifices, and gives to others.

This next step simply confirms how amazing he is.

A few months ago Andrew got a phone call that he was a bone marrow match for a woman who has leukemia (very rare if there is no relation).  He has already gone through many tests to confirm his match and the day is approaching.  Today Andrew starts taking his shots to “beef up” his stem cells and protein in his body.  This can be painful and draining.  He has to take the shots for 4 days prior to donating.

This Monday is the day.  We are going to be at a hospital where he will be hooked up to a machine for about 8 hours.  They will take his blood and basically syphon out the stuff they need, then put the remaining blood back in (kind of like dialysis).

Please pray for him as his body prepares to donate.  Pray that all goes well.  Pray that he stays healthy before Monday (if he gets sick he can’t do it).  Pray that the procedure works for this woman.  Pray for quick recovery.  (I know my husband and he hates to be out of commission).

Will keep you updated.  Thanks so much!

That’s so great!! I’ll pray for a quick recovery, both for him, and his donee. What a great opportunity! I’ve always wanted to do that, since I’m not allowed to give blood (some lame weight requirement), and when I’ve checked before, to be a donor cost a lot to be in the list, but this summer they were having a sponsored thing, so it was free to get on the list. So I made Hubs do it too, and we just got our membership cards this week (what are those for anyway, in case of an emergency donation?) So maybe one day, we can have a chance to change someone’s life like that!

I sent a reply right after you posted the prayer need, but I didn’t include my e-mail address (I don’t like to read directions!) and I see it didn’t go through. My bad, sorry. What I wanted to say is: Yes, I will definitely be praying! I know God will honor Andrew’s faithfulness to live out what he believes–to love God first, then his neighbor as himself. He definitely has a sacrificial love and I am so glad he is a part of our family! Becca, feel free to call if you don’t think the nurse’s are “doing things right!” I will be praying for your peace during the procedure, too!
    Love ya both,
