On a Budget?

1 Oct

So Andrew and I keep a budget.  Its not sophisticated, but it works for us.  We write everything we spend on a piece of paper on our fridge.  We are not extravagent people (as you may be able to tell by our cars), but almost every month, something comes up and we end of spending over our budget.  (Knowing we have a little “savings” wiggle room).

This month, as we are praying about how we are going to sacrifice for the building, Andrew and I decided to really stick to our budget this month.  We ran out of money a few days before the end of the month and committed to not spending anymore money.  So what to do for date night?

First, dinner was drive through Chick-Fil-A and used our last 2 free meal coupons.

With the quarters we scrounged up we thought we’d go to Disneyland (free with passes) and get some coffee.

While standing in line, we counted our quarters.  $5.25.  With our 10% discount, we figured we could get 1 cup of coffee and 1 muffin.

We could afford the chocolate chip muffin but not the special pumpkin muffin.

This was our total.

After laughing at how sad we were that we were 1 penny short, the cashier gave us one.  (Whose name, by the way, was Tata)

They were delicious.

Quality time with no money?  It can happen.

Oh I miss you guys! Love that you asked for a penny! The mall is such a fun place for free! Lots of samples, lotions, makeup, trying on clothes. It can be silly and fun. H

Good job for having a night out with no money! And a fun one too! We do that with our kids all the time cause we are always on a budget now that I dont work!

Love that. Justin and I need to do that too. I think it seems equally as fun as spending a bunch.
