Audition Done

7 Jun

So I did it.  I ended up singing “Black Velvet” at the vocal competition.  On a scale of 1 – 10 I think I was at an 8.  I get nervous, and when I get nervous, I forget to breathe right.  Doing things like this is definately vulnerable because putting yourself out there to be judged for anything is tough.  Overall, though, I thought my audition went pretty well.  Most of the people there sang R & B songs which the judge said he really liked.  So my song that was different from the rest either was really good because it stood out, or bad because it wasn’t the judge’s style.  They are auditioning more people next Sat so I won’t hear anything until next week.  But I am glad I did it.  Thanks for your feedback.

What have you done to “put yourself out there” lately?

congrats! I would’ve been nervous too, but just because I would be in fear of losing my humbleness. You see, I’m such an awesome singer that I don’t like singing in public because I don’t want people to be all, “you’re the best singer I’ve ever heard” or “your singing saved my life”. It’s a hard problem to have, but I’m pretty amazing at staying humble.

But seriously, I actually know what you mean though. I hate singing for stuff that isn’t worship. I just don’t like feeling on display for people to critique. We’ve done several weddings, but I get so freakin’ nervous. I’d rather lead worship in front of 1000, then sing some normal song for 100.

I too share that same nervousness about non-worship singing when people are paying attention. I sang at a wedding once and thought I might pass out! So ,when have I “put myself out there?” I auditioned for American Idol two years ago. That was super intimidating but I’m really glad I did it.

It’s awesome that you auditioned for this City of Riverside thing! Let us know if you make it and we will have to cruise out for “REBECCA BOGANWRIGHT (sp?) LIVE IN CONCERT AT WHITE PARK.”
