He has been playing for so long…

24 May

…my husband. He has been playing this Wii Play Tanks game for the last 45 minutes. The thing about this game is that you can’t save your progress. It starts back at the beginning every time you lose. So its a challenge for him and he has been playing forever! The music is so annoying. And every time he loses I have to hear about it.

Today we have: come back from Long Beach with some friends, I have applied to RCC to take a summer Astronomy class, started writing a song, and I have 2 parties to go to tonight. Still have to buy some presents. I think its time to get off the couch.

I Cried Today

23 May

photoI saw someone’s blog today that titled their post “The Chapman Family Tragedy.”  Even if you are not a CCM fan, please read this.

News Reports: an article from the Seattle PI [AP News/below]; CNN News; People Magazine; and another article from the Tennessean. Photo above by Tucker Photography, Inc.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The 5-year-old daughter of contemporary Christian music star Steven Curtis Chapman was struck and killed Wednesday by a sport utility vehicle driven by her brother, authorities said.

The girl, Maria, was hit in a driveway on the family residence Wednesday afternoon by a Toyota Land Cruiser driven by her teenage brother, said Laura McPherson, a spokesman for the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

McPherson said no charges are expected.

“It looks like a tragic accident,” she said.

She said several members of the Chapman family witnessed the accident, which happened in Williamson County just south of Nashville.

The brother apparently did not see the little girl, McPherson said. She did not have the name or exact age of the brother, only that he is an older teenager.

The girl died later at Vanderbilt Medical Center, hospital spokeswoman Laurie Holloway said.

Chapman, originally from Paducah, Ky., and his wife have promoted international adoption and have three daughters from China, including Maria.

One of the most impactful Christian concerts I have ever been to was a Steven Curtis Chapman concert where he shared his experiences about his adoption. He showed a video he made with his little girl in it. I cried the whole way through and it was the first time I thought that I would like to adopt a child someday. This impacted me today so much. Please pray. I can’t even imagine.

So much fun

This was our all worship Sunday.  The last day of Loud.  I could not have imagined a better set (props to Matt Richey).  I know its been a while, but I never got around to posting about it.  The night before this Sunday, I left Fresno at 8:30 and got home at 1:00.  I kept praying that God would give me energy for the worship service.  He absolutely did.  I was pumped, not only to be singing some of my favs that day, but also to be leading an awesome church and see them respond in the worship of our God.  Thanks, Sandals, for being a part of this day.  Thanks, Daniel, for the pics.

Checking Out

21 May

So, its almost summer.  I am almost free.  Key word: almost.  My brain feels like it is on the verge of checking out already though.  I actually got summoned for Jury Duty on the last week of school.  I thought to myself, “If I get jury duty, I won’t have to go to 8th grade promotion.”  (Which, could be sweet because 8th grade ‘promotion’ – not graduation, mind you – means sitting in the blazing heat and watching 600 way overdressed adolescents get a piece of paper).  Yes, I’m proud, but its just so hot.  (Did you hear the whine in my voice?)  Who else gets excited at the prospect of Jury Duty?
