This is a first

5 Apr

Right now it is 1:30 in the morning.  Andrew is fast asleep next to me.  Had a cup of coffee before we started a movie at 10:30 and now, I am tired but my eyes have not shut yet.  It is usually my husband who is staying up while I konk out.

I have learned, however, not to wake him to ask him to do anything.  If you have spent any given amount of time with us you know that one semi-sore subject in our marraige is that Andrew likes to sleep on the couch.  Sometimes I want him in bed with me but he would rather “nap” first, then get up, brush teeth 3 hours later and come to bed.  I know, it doesn’t make sense to me either.

So last night he falls asleep on the couch and I decide not to make an issue of it.  But after almost 30 minutes of me laying awake, I call downstairs to ask him to come up (married almost 5 years.  I sleep better when he’s here).  Here’s how the conversation went:

B:  “Andrew can you come upstairs, I can’t go to sleep.”

A:  “Do you want the whole thing?”

B:  “What? I don’t know what you are talking about”

A:  (a little annoyed) “The computer”

B:  “Why would I want the computer?”

A:  (even more annoyed and now very grumpy) “Its just a question.  Geez.”

How foolish of me.

Thanks for sharing Becca. Although it doesn’t make sense to me either…not even the conversation about the computer.

my husband and I are the same way. I am a teacher and I am asleep before I hit the pillow. However, he likes to stay up late(r) and then come to bed, which means I do not really fall asleep until he gets in bed.
We have had all kinds of weird conversations like your computer one. It’s so fun being married and experiencing life together!

Ha! That is hilarious. Robby talks in his sleep too. That totally sounds like a conversation we would have. He usually talks about random work things. One time he asked me why I didn’t put those lights on the truss. Um, huh? He also falls asleep in the middle of our conversations and starts talking about random things. Then he wakes up and tries to cover it up. I love being married to a sleep-talker – it’s pretty funny!

Ha. We have these conversations all the time. It usually takes me a minute to figure out that he is still sleeping and yet managing to give a response (that doesn’t make sense) at the same time. Gotta love em!

ha, i love it. britt yells at me, talks about work, and has hit me twice in the last 7 1/2 years, all while sleeping… (well, some of those when he is awake, but not the hitting)…

Oh, ok…now I understand–he was talking in his sleep. Now, that makes more sense to me. Curtis and I do that all the time. Sometimes I just continue the conversation with him when he’s talking to me in his sleep. He laughs at me when I jump up and run to the bedroom door, then stop to catch my bearings.

Oh how I can relate! I absolutely love your story. Thank you.

that it hilarious…i feel so much better now. i used to be really bad about that. as soon as the kids went to bed, i’d sit down “just for a minute” to watch “one show” before i was gonna come wash my face and brush my teeth…yea right…3-4 hours later, my poor husbands still trying to wake me up every 30 minutes and the “conversations” got weirder & weirder each time he tried (ohhhh, and grumpier and grumpier). once i got ready for bed i never slept as well as i did on that comfy couch! 🙂 poor hubby.

Yes! I want to whole thing!
    Is that not the answer?

Hahaha. My husband is the same way. It drives me nuts. Just come to bed already. We joke that the only time he comes to bed willingly is for a conjugal visit. 😉
