Stinkin’ Soy

So about a year ago in our quest to eat healthier, Andrew and I switched to soy milk.  I don’t drink much, just for cereal every once in a while.

But I also love me some edemame.

A few months ago, through some research and advice from friends, I was told to give up soy.  It has a lot of estrogen in it and not the best for someone trying to get prego.

I miss my edemame but it hasn’t been that bad.

But then this Sunday I read the back of my Clif Bar ingredients.

Do you see that?  Organic Oats and SOYBEANS!!!!

Then I checked the other brand of protein bars we eat.  SOY!!

I probably eat a Clif Bar 3-4 times a week.

Just pissed me off a bit.

  • Rebecca, believe it or not, whole, raw milk, or at least whole, unhomogonized milk is a lot better for you than soy milk. I had an article about it that I was going to give you the link to, but I can’t find it :-(

  • Soy is everywhere. It’s in almost anything that has protein in it that is dairy free. Protein boosts at Jamba Juice are soy… Powerbars… Protein drinks. Even some fast food hamburgers have soy in the meat as a filler to make the meat stretch further. Crazy, huh?! Anyways, we gotta look at the ingredients because you never know. I know about raw milk too. Mary is right, It’s the best for you, even better than pasteurized/ homogenized milk.

Ps. Even regular baby formula has soy in it (not just the soy formula). It’s bad for babies to have too much estrogen too.
